September 23 – Smithfield Community Advisory Group
The Smithfield Community Advisory Group (SCAG) is a group of local residents who meet periodically with company representatives to receive project updates and discuss the project and any related issues. The Advisory Group was started in 2003 as a means to consult with area residents for the original Highway 16 North Project. The group was revived and had a meeting at Westland Hall on September 23 to engage the community with the start up of our operations and the next process of required applications. The Advisory Group has had input into the Highway 16 North Project for a number of years and many of the group’s suggestions have developed into performance measures that are currently implemented as a part of our operations today.

September 13, 2008 – Highway 16 Open House and Tour
We had an Open House at our Highway 16 North Project site on September 13. This was a chance for people in the community to learn more about BURNCO Aggregate production operations, enjoy a barbeque, tour the site and meet the employees. Please click here to see photos from the open house.
On August 11, 2008 – Sound Monitoring
Jack Davis from Patching Associates Acoustical Engineering Ltd. was on site for four days performing a sound monitoring study of our operations. Special Constable Randy Shermack from Parkland County was also on site August 12 comparing sound readings with Jack from various locations surrounding our operations.
